OpenSUSE history began in Germany in 1992 when four Linux enthusiasts - Roland Dyroff, Thomas Fehr, Hubert Mantel and Burchard Steinbild - SuSE Linux launch the project. Software development company Software und System Entwicklung (SuSE), originally sold sets of floppy disks containing Jarman version of Slackware Linux distribution.

In the early summer of May 1996, on the occasion of release of version 4.2 SuSE Linux became an independent distribution. SuSE then adopted a system of packaging with RPM format followed by the launch of a graphical system administration tool YaST which became one of the backbone and advantages of the SuSE Linux until today. In addition, a regular release schedule and a very complete manual inclusion petrified SuSE Linux enjoyed rapid growth and popularity, especially in Europe and also in bjavascript: void (0) elahan American continent.
